FAQ

12396_617493804947441_1136667389_nDOES THE COMPASS HAVE ILLUMINATION FEATURES SUCH AS TRITIUM OR LUMINESCENT PAINT FOR TIMES WHEN THE BATTERY MIGHT BE DEPLETED OR IF THE LIGHT FAILS TO FUNCTION?

Yes. As you may already know, Tritium is a radioactive and controlled disposal material. This means that manufacturing, handling and disposal cost are greatly increased. Due to these reasons, NavELite elected instead to use Luminova which is a chemically mixed luminescent-type “paint”. Luminova is applied on the north side of the NavELite compass needle and to the two “hash marks” on the north side of the compass bezel face. The Luminova will hold a glowing charge for a period of time after being exposed to light and is also clearly visible through the use of Night Vision Goggles (NVGs).

IS THE COMPASS DURABLE?

NavELite invested a significant amount of time and resources to build dozens of prototypes which were sent to users in all types of environments. These users put the compass through its paces and provided some in depth feedback. Several comments requested a more durable version be manufactured. We listened and made significant changes to the manufacturing process including mold modifications and rigorous assembly standards. We are confident that our users will find the NavELite compass a durable and lasting product.

IS THE COMPASS FACE SCRATCH RESISTANT?

Yes. The compass top is made from high grade Lexan plastic which is scratch resistant.

I HAVE A LARGE DIAMETER WRIST AND I PLAN TO WEAR THE COMPASS OVER MY GLOVES, IS THE STRAP LONG ENOUGH?

The compass wrist straps were designed to accommodate the 95% of the average wrist size. Most new compasses will have an increased strap length to accommodate very large circumference users with perforation points if a user elects to cut the strap down in size.

I USE NIGHT VISION GOGGLES (NVGS), WILL I GET “NIGHT VISION BLOOM” OR WHITEOUT WHEN THE BACKLIGHT IS LIT?

No. The compass is night vision friendly and will not cause night vision bloom or whiteout.

DOES THE COMPASS USE A BATTERY AND IF SO, IS IT REPLACEABLE?

Yes. The compass uses a standard CR1632 watch size battery. Instructions for battery replacement come with each compass. Expected battery life for normal use is approximately two years.

I DON’T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT; CAN I STILL PURCHASE A NAVELITE COMPASS ONLINE WITH A REGULAR CREDIT CARD?

This will take you to a page where you can enter your credit card information.

I DO NOT LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES; CAN I STILL PURCHASE A COMPASS?

Yes. Tariffs, duties and VATs will be calculated according to destination shipping laws and regulations for all International orders. International orders include any shipping destination locations outside of the Continental United States and its territories.

WILL THE COMPASS NEEDLE CAPSULE EVER FORM A BUBBLE?

Some of our initial prototype compasses formed bubbles. Manufacturing procedures were modified adding additional measures (including a dual vacuum process) to prevent bubbles from forming in the new models. Although we feel confident no bubbles will ever form in our compasses except in extreme condition cases, it is important to note the facts pertaining to bubbles outlined in our downloadable online brochure.

CAN I USE MY GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT CARD (GPC) TO PURCHASE THE COMPASS?
